Proper Ladder Feedline Splicing
I'm sure there are dozens of ways to do this however, this is what I've done for years and decided to post a few pic's for people that ask how it's done.
When I have to add feedline back in for tuning purposes, I strip each end, apply a little flux, twist the pair and solder them. I trim the joint quite short to make it easier to snap it back in the spreader/spacer.
I tie a tight knot on each side of the splice. They will prevent the line from pulling out of the spacer and take any strain off the solder joint.
I apply some silicone to each spliced end to protect it from moisture and to prevent corrosion.
This should be pretty self explanatory.
No, your RF won't be blocked by the knot. ;-)
